SeaHues is a collection of wall coverings designed specifically for beachside living. White-walled interiors of homes are commonplace in contemporary interiors but do not speak to the natural landscapes of beachfront homes. SeaHues, through tactile and dimensional surface design, makes the connection from the external landscapes to home interiors. Inspired by the hues of the beaches and waters of Seychelles, Africa, SeaHues uses combined modelling paste and resin to reflect the water's depth and
movement.

The goal was to experiment with mediums that start as a liquid or as a ‘wet’ form that hardens over time, and these two materials served as perfect examples for that transformation. With the modelling paste applied in layers, a deeper visual effect is achieved. Teal pigment is also chosen to enhance the connection to the surrounding natural landscapes. Bringing a sense of the outdoors indoors with this collection helps with inviting natural elements into your home and having that connection with nature present in living spaces.

 

The material choices not only invite tactile engagement but also capture the sense of movement and a natural rhythm from the sea. This collection is cohesive due to the consistent use of materials, techniques and colours, which create a unified visual theme. The texture and design approach further ties the pieces together, enhancing the overall aesthetic coherence.
